Eric Hogue was elected as the 45th Mayor of Wylie, Texas on May 10, 2008, and served for over four terms, until November 2020. As the mayor of Wylie, Eric was the legislative head of Wylie’s city government and proudly served as a representative and spokesman of the community at local, state and federal functions. 


Previously, the former Mayor served the City of Wylie for over ten years: seven years as a member of the City Council and three years as a member of the Wylie Planning and Zoning Commission. 


Eric and his wife, Tammie, have been married for over 33 years and have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law and a handsome little grandson.

During his time in office, Mayor Hogue was actively involved in…  


  • Bringing Collin College to the city of Wylie, Texas. A goal and dream of many of our citizens for over two decades.
  • Construction of Wylie’s Fire Station 3, which opened in 2009
  • Construction of the Wylie Municipal Complex which includes the City Hall, the Wylie Recreation Center, and the Smith Public Library, which opened in 2011.
  • Construction of the City Wylie Public Works Facility, which opened in 2012.
  • Remodel of the City of Wylie Public Safety Building, which was completed in 2013.
  • Remodel of Founder’s Park, which was completed in 2011.
  • Remodel of Community Park, which was completed in 2013.
  • Improvements and expansion of FM 1378, East Brown and West Brown streets.
  • Remodel of the Wylie Senior Citizen Recreation Center, which was completed in 2013.
  • Overseen the city’s annual budget cycle without raising taxes and actually lowering the city’s taxes the last eight years.
  • Worked to successfully implement a salary step program for the city’s public safety personnel.
  • Led the efforts to find and implement a transportation replacement system for senior citizens and disabled persons when Collin County cancelled its contract with CCART and directly impacted the citizens of Wylie.
